Questions people ask
Is Typing Summit free?
+
Yes. Every lesson, drill, typing test, race and game is free to use in your browser with no sign-up. Your progress is saved on your device.
How long does it take to learn touch typing?
+
Most people learn the full keyboard in 2 to 4 weeks with 15 to 20 minutes of practice a day. Reaching 40 wpm or more usually takes one to three months of regular practice.
What is a good typing speed?
+
The average adult types about 40 words per minute. 50 to 70 wpm is good for most office work, and 80 wpm or more is considered fast. Accuracy above 95% matters as much as speed.
How is WPM calculated?
+
Words per minute counts every 5 correctly typed characters, including spaces, as one word, divided by the minutes you typed. Raw speed includes mistakes; net WPM only counts correct characters.
Does Typing Summit work on phones and tablets?
+
Yes. Tap the text to bring up your on-screen keyboard. For learning touch typing, a physical keyboard gives the best results.
